HOW TO TRANSFER A DOMAIN FROM DOMAIN.COM

If you intend to transfer your domain name from Domain.com to Z.COM, then this article will guide you through the stages.

1. Basic Requirements
Before initiating a domain transfer process, confirm that the following criteria are satisfied:

a. The domain name to be transferred is over 60 days old from initial registration

b. The domain name has NOT been transferred within the last 60 days

c. The domain name status is not on “Hold”

You can use a WHOIS lookup tool to confirm the above information for your domain and if all are satisfied, you can then move on to check Z.COM domain page to see if your domain name extension is supported by our services.

2. Disable Domain Privacy
If you’ve subscribed to a domain privacy protection service for the domain, then you will have to disable it, using the following steps:

d. Log in to your account on Domain.com

e. Navigate to “Domain” from the top menu

f. Click “Manage” on the domain you wish to transfer (In List view, click on the Gear icon under Manage)

g. Scroll down to the “Domain Privacy + Protection” box

h. Toggle the slide switch to turn off “Domain Privacy”

i. A confirmation message will be displayed, stating that Domain Privacy was successfully turned off

3. Review/Update Contact Information
It is very important to keep your domain contact information up to date. This is also needed for transfer, as you must have access to the Admin email address in order to respond to transfer requests or confirmations. Here is how to check and update your domain contact information on Domain.com

j. Log in to your account on Domain.com

k. Navigate to “Domain” from the top menu

l. Click “Manage” on the domain you wish to transfer (In List view, click on the Gear icon under Manage)

m. Click on “Contact Information” from the side navigation bar that will appear

n. You can now review all of your domain contact information (Owner, Administrative, Billing and Technical)

o. If you need to update any information, click “Edit Contact Info”, and the Edit box will be displayed

p. Before you save the updated information, make sure you select/check the “ICANN Lock Opt Out” (don’t leave it unchecked)

4. Unlock the Domain
By default, Domain.com will enable the registrar lock on your domain to avoid unauthorized transfers. Using the steps below, you will be able to unlock the domain so that it can be transferred.

q. Log in to your account on Domain.com

r. Navigate to “Domain” from the top menu

5. Obtain EPP/Auth Code
The EPP or Auth-Code is a unique passcode for your domain which is required to confirm authorization of transfer. Hence, you will have to provide it to Z.COM when initiating a transfer. Here is how to get your domain Auth-Code:

v. Login to your account on Domain.com

w. Navigate to “Domain” from the top menu

x. Click “Manage” on the domain you wish to transfer (In List view, click on the Gear icon under Manage)

y. Click on “Transfers” from the side navigation bar that will appear

z. Click the “Email Auth-Code” button and the Auth-code will be sent to your domain admin email address

6. Request for the domain transfer on Z.COM

Once you have completed the processes mentioned above, you can then proceed to place an order for the domain transfer on Z.COM where you will be required to enter the Auth-Code you got from Domain.com.
