USING THE CPANEL FILE MANAGER
cPanel’s File Manager is useful in many ways for managing your website. File Manager can browse the filesystem for your site and allow you to have full control to add, delete, and rename files. You can use the tool to create files or folders, search for files, even Copy and Move files.
1. Using File Manager
a. Type “file manager” into the find functions box
b. Click on the “File Manager” icon.
Choose the name of the directory you’d like to open from the left side. The window on the right will show the contents of the selected directory.
c. To browse the file directory:
• Choose the name of the directory or subdirectory on the left to view its contents.
• Choose Up One Level to move up a level in the filesystem.
• Choose the “+” icon to expand a directory or “-“ to collapse the directory view.
2. Creating Folders and Files in File Manager
a. Choose the + Folder or + File icon in the File Manager main window.
b. Type the name of your new file or folder in the “New File Name” or “New Folder Name” input area.
c. Verify the path is correct for your new folder or File.
d. Choose Create New File or Create New Folder when finished.
Copying Files in File Manager
You can copy files by clicking the file or folder you’d wish to copy and selecting the Copy icon. Type the desired destination and select Copy File(s).
Moving Files in File Manager
You can move files by clicking the file or folder you’d wish to move and selecting the Move icon. Type the desired destination and select Move File(s).
Renaming Files in File Manager
You can rename files by clicking the file or folder you’d wish to rename and selecting the Rename icon. Type the desired new name and select Rename File(s).
Deleting Files in File Manager
You can delete files by clicking the file or folder you’d wish to delete and selecting the Delete icon. Choose Confirm to complete the operation.
Searching for Files in File Manager
You can use the Search option in the top-right corner of the File Manager window to search for files and folders. Type the query you’d like to search for and the folder location you’d like to search, then press Go. Results will be displayed within the window
