Add a subdomain
A subdomain is an extension of your primary domain name that allows you to organise content or create separate sections of your website without needing to register a new domain. For example, you may use a subdomain for a blog, an online store, or a support portal.
Note: Subdomains function as separate websites under your main domain. While they share the same document root, a subdomain can still have its own subdirectory to separate its content, design, or even hosting settings from the main domain.
You can easily add and manage subdomains through the cPanel of your web hosting account.
1. Access cPanel directly through your Z.com account.
2. Once you have reached the cPanel dashboard, locate Domains under Domains.
3. Click Create A New Domain.
4. Here, you can add the subdomain, for example, blog.example.com. You may replace the word blog with any word for your subdomain preference.
*Adding a subdomain will allow you to create an additional independent website without additional cost.
For example:
www.example.com – main website
www.blog.example.com – an additional website using a subdomain (blog)
Note: To separate the primary domain and subdomain root directory, ensure the Share document root box is unchecked. Once done, click Submit to create the subdomain.
5. Done! Your domain list will look like this once the subdomain has been successfully added.
Note: Kindly wait for the subdomain to be initialised. Propagation may take a few minutes to an hour. If your website cannot be reached due to an error, please try again after a few minutes.
