HOW TO TRANSFER A DOMAIN FROM 1&1 TO Z.COM

This article will show you how to transfer you domain from 1&1 or IONOS to Z.COM. You will have to complete the following processes before placing a request for the domain transfer on Z.COM.

1. Basic Requirements
Before initiating a domain transfer process, confirm that the following criteria are satisfied:

a. The domain name to be transferred is over 60 days old from initial registration

b. The domain name has NOT been transferred within the last 60 days

c. The domain name status is not on “Hold”

You can use a WHOIS lookup tool to confirm the above information for your domain and if all are satisfied, you can then move on to check Z.COM domain page to see if your domain name extension is supported by our services.

2. Disable Private Registration
If you are using private registration on your domain, which hides your domain admin contact information, you must disable it so that the receiving registrar (Z.COM) can contact the authorized domain owner or admin for transfer approvals. Here is how to disable private registration for your domain:

d. Log in to your account on 1&1 or IONOS

e. Go to “Domains & SSL” from the product category

f. Next to the domain you want to transfer, click the gear icon in the “Actions” column

g. Select “Privacy & Contact Details” to open its page

h. Disable the domain “private registration” with the option button

3. Review/Update Contact Information
It is important to keep your domain contact information up to date, so that in events of transfer, you will have access to the requests that are sent to the admin email address. Here is how to check or update your contact information:

i. Log in to your account on 1&1 or IONOS

j. Go to “Domains & SSL” from the product category

m. In the “IONOS Domain Contact Details” section, click “Edit” below the contact details you would like to change [which can be the Registrant Contact (Reg-C), the Administrative Contact (Admin-C), or/and the Technical Contact (Tech-C)]

4. Unlock the Domain
To avoid unauthorized transfer, it is common practice to place a transfer lock on domains. The steps below will guide you through removing the domain lock so that the domain can be transferred:

o. Go to “Domains & SSL” from the product category

p. Next to the domain you want to transfer, click the gear icon in the “Actions” column

q. Select “Renewal & Transfer” to open its page

r. Disable the “Domain transfer lock” with the option button
