1. Turn off Domain Privacy Protection
You would have to turn off the WHOIS domain privacy protection service if it was activated for the domain so that the receiving registrar (Z.com) can access the owner’s contact details.
A. Log in to your Hostgator domain portal.
B. Navigate to the Domains tab and click on the domain name you wish to transfer.
C. Hover your mouse over the icons on the left navigation panel to view the highlights of the tabs, then click Domain Privacy.
D. Once the Domain Privacy page is open, select the Public radio button to disable Domain Privacy.
E. Click Save.
2. Review/Update Contact Information
Your domain contact information must be correct, as it will be used for approval/verification purposes.
A. Log in to your Hostgator domain portal.
B. Navigate to the Domains tab.
C. Click on the domain name you wish to transfer.
D. Hover your mouse over the icons on the left navigation panel to view the highlights of the tabs, then click Contact Info.
E. You can now review or update the information of the registrant, administrative, technical, and billing contacts.
F. Click Save Contact Info.
3. Unlock the domain & obtain EPP/Authorization code
Most domain service providers set a transfer or registrar lock on domains.
A. Log in to your Hostgator domain portal.
B. Navigate to the Domains tab.
C. Click on the domain name you wish to transfer.
D. Hover your mouse over the icons on the left navigation panel to view the highlights of the tabs, then click Domain Locking.
E. Select Locking OFF by switching the options button.
F. Click Save Domain Locking.
G. Once the domain is unlocked, the button to obtain the EPP or Authorization code will appear.
H. Click the Request Your EPP Key button.
I. Keep the code safe and move on to place your transfer request on Z.com.
4. Request for the domain transfer into Z.com
Once you have completed the processes mentioned above, you can proceed with the domain transfer on Z.com, where you will be required to enter the EPP code you got from Hostinger for the domain.
