One of the most common file transfer methods from computer to computer is via FTP, known as File Transfer Protocol. FTP allows users to safely transfer files between two or more points, which means that files are securely shared between parties. We can send, receive, delete, move, rename, and copy files on a server using FTP.
FTP is best for uploading and downloading huge files.
Suppose you would like to give someone access to your website, such as a developer or designer, you will want to create a new FTP account to provide them access without compromising your cPanel login information.
For example,
- Organisations can use FTP to allow employees to share files across branch offices and different locations.
- Employees can use FTP to share files with coworkers and external business partners.
- IT teams can use FTP to transfer data to disaster recovery (DR) sites.
For each FTP account you create, you can also restrict or grant different access levels by restricting that FTP account to a specific file directory.
