FAQs

Find answers to frequently asked questions about Domain.

  • What happens when I forget to renew my domain, and it expires?

When a domain expires, it becomes inactive immediately, and all the services connected to the domain like email and website will cease to function. Domain management is suspended while the domain is expired.

The domain will remain available for renewal (Grace Period status) at your regular domain rate and will be listed under Expired domains for a maximum of 30 days upon expiration. Failure to renew within the allowable period will result in domain redemption.

Note: the process for renewing a domain after its expiration can vary depending on the specific rules established by each domain name extension and its respective registry. Certain domains, such as country code Top-Level Domains (ccTLDs), may have unique requirements for renewal.

  • How long can I renew my expired domain? Do you provide a domain grace period?

At Z.com, we offer domain renewal periods ranging from 1 year to 9 years*. It's important to note that a domain cannot be registered for more than 10 years in total.

    • * Our services are billed on an annual basis.

Yes, Z.com provides a grace period of 30 days after the set expiration date. After the grace period ends, the domain will enter a redemption status. During this time, you still have a chance to renew with additional recovery fee, If the domain is not renewed during the redemption period, it will then be released for public purchase.

  • What is the renewal fee for my domain, and are there any additional charges or discounts available?

The fee for domain renewal varies depending on the type of Top-Level Domain (TLD). To find out the specific fees, there are two options: You can refer to our comprehensive TLD price list, which includes the prices for single-year domains, as well as registration, renewal, and transfer fees. Alternatively, if you already have an account with us, you can check the fees through your Z.com client area.

Domain renewal fees can vary based on your registered TLD. Also, any discounts should already apply to the prices shown on our full TLDs price list and within your Z.com client area.

  • How do I set [ON/OFF] for my domain auto-renewal function?

When a domain is successfully registered, auto-renewal is enabled by default. In this case, our system will automatically generate an invoice for the renewal fee, which will be issued prior to the domain's expiry date.

You have the option to disable the auto-renewal feature if you prefer to avoid automatic domain renewal. Please contact our support team to request the generation of a manual invoice.

Note: We recommend keeping auto-renewal enabled (which is the default setting) to ensure that you do not miss a domain renewal.

    5. 5

  • How do I recover and renew my domain, which is now under redemption status?

Redemption is the status that almost all Top-Level Domains (TLDs) enter if they are not renewed in time.

If your domain enters Redemption status, you could still have the opportunity to renew and recover it by paying an additional redemption fee in addition to the standard domain renewal fee.

To proceed with the recovery and renewal of your domain in Redemption status, please contact our support team for further assistance.

Note: The Redemption/Recovery fee is a charge required by the registry.
