-
Create a Z.com account

If you have your own domain name, select the option I already have a domain during the signup process. This allows you to use your existing domain to your new server.
- ※Adding your domain to Z.com at this point does NOT affect your current live website in any way. It will remain functioning normally at your current host until you point your DNS records in Step #4.
-
1
Back up your data from your current hosting company
This step backs up the data from your current hosting company to your local host computer. You’ll need to back up the following:
- Website files
- Database file (only if your site uses a database)
- ※Make sure your database is exported to a file with the extension .sql.
Creating database back-up may differ from respective provider, please contact your current provider for proper assistance. If not, you may need to process by exporting your database manually.

Process at Zcom Server (cPanel)
- Locate Z.com server IP, under Server statistic area on your cPanel dashboard (on the right most part of the page).
- Create an additional subdomain from your Zcom server, please see how to add sub-domain instruction

Point your DNS to Z.com
This is the final step to move your website hosting on your new Zcom server. At this point, your website is perfectly set up on your Z.com server, however it is still loading from your current web hosting provider.
To load your website from your Z.com Server, you need to set your domain name server settings point to Z.com server. You have two options when pointing your DNS.
- Point via nameservers (Recomended)
- Point via A records (Server IP)
How can I know which DNS configuration to use?
It makes no difference which option you choose. The way your website loads will be the same for both records pointing option. The only difference is that pointing your domain DNS via name server is much simpler.
Name Server Pointing (Recomended)
Pointing your domain DNS via Name server is more easier and straight forward. Once propagation take place and resolved to all location, all record on DNS table will be move to you Z.com server.
A Records Pointing
Using A Record to point your domain to your Z.com server is more challenging than the recomended name server pointing.
You can go with this option if you wish to keep some service running on your current/old server. You may need to check your Z.com server IP address, these are multiple record to point to a diferrent services like:
- Website
- Email
- Other custom records required
Updating your domain DNS table is relatively easy, however if you find it intimidating please communicate with your current/old server provider for further assistance.
View the following article for instructions on how to view the IP addresses at Z.com you’ll need to point your A Records to.
You’ll then need to check with your current hosting company for instructions on how to update these records.
Wait for the DNS records to propagated/resolved
After pointing your DNS records to Z.com, they will need time to propagate online.
A Records may take around 1 hour to initially update in the internet but it may take up to 48 hours to totally propagate online.
- ※We are not able to expedite the DNS propagation, DNS will automatically resolved to all location after certain period of time upto 48 hours.
Once the DNS is propagated in the internet, your website will start to run under your Z.com Server.
