When your account requests the server to perform tasks, such as connecting to a database, running a PHP script, or sending email, it requires resources from the server’s CPUs (Central Processing Units) and disk access from the hard drive to complete the tasks.
Shared hosting accounts have a finite amount of resources available for use at any given time for all users on that shared server, meaning those CPUs are shared with all users placed on that same server.
