1. Pause Domain Privacy
Suppose you have domain privacy activated on your domain. In that case, you need to pause (disable) so that your domain’s contact information in the public WHOIS database is made available to the gaining registrar (Z.com), and it will be used to contact you regarding the transfer.
A. Log in to your Bluehost account.
B. Click on “Domains” from the main menu at the top of the page.
C. Scroll down and select the domain you want to transfer from the list.
D. Click the “Privacy” options tab from the sub-tabs that will appear.
E. If privacy is enabled, click “Pause Domain Privacy”.
2. Review/Update Contact Information
During the transfer process, the information on the domain’s record, such as email, will be sent critical information regarding the transfer, so you must ensure the details are correct.
A. Log in to your Bluehost account.
B. Click on “Domains” from the main menu at the top of the page.
C. Scroll down and select the domain you want to transfer from the list.
D. From the sub-tabs that will appear, click the “Contacts” tab.
E. Check the boxes for the registrant, admin, and billing to view and edit the information listed.
F. After making the changes, check the box to opt out of the 60-day transfer lock if it appears.
G. Click “Update Contact Information” to save your changes.
H. A verification email will be sent to the email addresses, and you must click the sent links to approve the changes.
3. Unlock the Domain
Domains on Bluehost are locked by default to prevent unauthorised transfers.
A. Log in to your Bluehost account.
B. Click on “Domains” from the main menu at the top of the page.
C. Scroll down and select the domain you want to transfer from the list. From the sub-tabs that will appear, click the “Lock” tab.
D. If the domain is locked, click “Unlock”.
4. Obtain EPP Code
This unique passcode for the domain is required to authorise the transfer. Hence, you must provide it to Z.com when initiating a transfer.
A. Log in to your Bluehost account. Click on “Domains” from the main menu at the top of the page.
B. Scroll down and select the domain you want to transfer from the list.
C. Click the “Transfer EPP” tab from the sub-tabs that will appear.
D. Please copy the code that will be displayed and keep it safe.
5. Request for the domain transfer into Z.com
Once you have completed the processes mentioned above, you can proceed with the domain transfer on Z.com, where you will be required to enter the EPP code you got from Bluehost for the domain.
