How to enable or disable PHP extensions using the PHP Selector in cPanel

PHP extensions are additional modules that enhance the functionality of PHP and are often required for certain website features or applications to work properly.

In cPanel, the PHP Selector allows you to easily enable or disable PHP extensions based on your website’s requirements without needing advanced technical knowledge.

This guide will show you how to enable or disable PHP extensions using the PHP Selector in cPanel.

Note:
• Ensure that you have an active web hosting plan with access to cPanel. If you do not yet have one, you can compare the available plans that we currently offer on our Web Hosting page and choose the one that best suits your needs.
• The availability of PHP extensions may vary depending on the selected PHP version.
• Some PHP extensions are not enabled by default and may need to be activated manually depending on your website requirements.
• Enabling or disabling certain PHP extensions may affect your website functionality.
• It is recommended to only modify PHP extensions if you are familiar with their purpose.

1. Access cPanel directly through your Z.com account.

2. Once you have reached the cPanel dashboard, locate Select PHP Version under Software.

3. On the PHP Selector page, you should see two different tabs.

Account Global Settings:
※ Changes made here will apply to all domains under your cPanel account.

Per Domain Settings:
※ Allows you to customise PHP settings for a specific domain.
※ Settings here will override the Account Global Settings for that domain.

4. For example, to configure PHP Extensions for a specific domain, go to the Per Domain Settings tab, where you will see a list of domains under your cPanel account. To configure PHP extensions for a specific domain, ensure Isolation (CageFS + PHP Selector) is Enabled before selecting the Inherited option.
Note: If Isolation (CageFS + PHP Selector) is Disabled for the selected domain, it will use the Account Global Settings. Selecting the Account Global option will redirect you to the Account Global Settings page, where PHP extensions are managed for all domains.

5. A PHP Selector prompt will appear once you have proceeded with the Inherited option for the specific domain. Under the Extensions tab, all available extensions are categorised and displayed in alphabetical order. Simply check or uncheck the corresponding box to enable or disable each extension.

6. Once done, you may choose to click Close to return to the PHP Selector page.
