The alias record is a type of DNS entry or resource record used to point your domain name to a hostname instead of an IP address.
Alias records work similarly to CNAME records. However, they primarily redirect visitors who browsed one of your subdomains and send them to your main website instead. Unlike CNAME records which cannot work with certain types of records, alias records can work with just about anything.
An alias record allows you to add multiple hostnames for the same subdomain and can also be used for the root domain.
