How to create backups in cPanel

Full website backups are crucial for several reasons. First, they can help perform disaster recovery in the event of cyberattacks, failure, or accidental data loss or deletion. Second, they are essential for website migration. They make moving your website from one hosting to another seamless. A full backup ensures that all components are transferred. Lastly, a full backup allows you to control the version and track changes that have occurred over time.

The cPanel backup interface lets you download and store a zipped copy of the entire or parts of your website in a file (the system stores backup files as tarballs that use the .tar.gz file extension), which you can save to your computer.

Note: Backup data will consume your server disk space. After generating a full backup, please download and delete the file immediately to prevent exceeding your hard disk resource limit.

* For full backup, click Download a Full Account Backup.
