Expanding your hosting capabilities starts with successfully linking a new domain to your account. By adding a domain, you can manage multiple independent websites—each with its own unique content, email addresses, and configurations—all from a single dashboard. This is an efficient way to host various projects, business brands, or client sites without the cost of multiple hosting plans.
Note: Please ensure your current hosting package supports "Addon Domains." If you have reached your limit, you may need to upgrade your plan to accommodate more websites.
Before or after adding your new domain to cPanel, ensure the domain’s nameservers are updated to Z.com’s nameserver:
ns-wh1.web.z.com
ns-wh2.web.z.com
Step 1: Access Your cPanel Dashboard
Log in to your
Z.com account to access the main dashboard. Navigate to the
Your Active Products/Services section. Locate your hosting plan (e.g., Web Hosting - Starter) in the list.
Click the
Log in to cPanel button to be automatically redirected to your hosting management interface.
Step 2: Open the Domains Interface
Once inside the cPanel dashboard, you need to locate the domain management tool.
Scroll down to the
Domains section of the dashboard.
Click on the Domains icon (the globe graphic) to proceed to the next screen.
Step 3: Initiate Domain Creation
On the
Domains list page, you will see your existing domains.
Click the blue button labeled
Create A New Domain located on the right side of the interface.
Step 4: Configure Domain Settings
In this final step, you will enter your domain details and set up its file directory.
1. Domain Name: Type your new domain name (e.g.,
example.com) in the
Domain text box.
2. Share document root: Uncheck this box. Leaving this unchecked ensures your new domain has its own separate folder, preventing it from showing the same content as your main website.
3. Document Root: Once the box is unchecked, cPanel will automatically suggest a directory path. This is where you will upload your new website's files.
4. Subdomain: cPanel automatically creates a subdomain entry for technical routing; you can generally leave this as the default value.
What is a Temporary Domain?
A temporary domain allows you to create and view your website before you have officially added or registered a domain.
•
Development & Testing: You can build and design your website in a live environment without needing a live, registered URL.
•
DNS Propagation: It is useful for viewing your site’s progress while waiting for your actual domain's nameservers to update or propagate globally.
•
Previewing: It provides a functional link to check your layout and features before your project officially goes live.
How to use it
You would select the radio button for
Temporary Domain instead of
Registered Domain. However, for a standard website setup where you already own the domain name, you should keep
Registered Domain selected.
Important Limitations
Please note that cPanel does not support the following features for accounts using a temporary domain:
•
DNS Management: You cannot edit DNS records.
•
Email Services: Standard email functionality is disabled.
•
SEO Tools: Search Engine Optimization features are unavailable.

Step 5: Finalize the Setup
Once you have filled in your domain details—whether you chose a
Registered Domain or a
Temporary Domain—you must save your changes to complete the process.
Submit: Click the blue
Submit button if you are finished and want to return to your domain list.
Submit and Create Another: Click this button if you have additional domains to add and want to refresh the form immediately for a new entry.
Once you have clicked the submit button, you will be redirected back to the
Domains list page. A green success notification will appear in the top-right corner to confirm that the process is complete.
Domain List Update: Your new domain will now appear in the list below, showing its directory location and current redirection status.
