Changing the primary domain in your Z.com client area updates how the domain is displayed in cPanel but does not affect your website’s content. If you want your website content to reflect the new primary domain, you must modify it manually through cPanel.

Note: Changing the primary domain will also update usernames for any email, FTP, or web disk accounts associated with the domain. However, the files stored on the server, such as those uploaded via FTP or web disk*, will remain unchanged.

*Refers to storage spaces where files are uploaded or managed through FTP (file transfer protocol) or web disk. These include website files, documents, or other data stored on your hosting server. However, this is separate from the content visible on your website.    

1. Change the cPanel primary domain name only

Note: Changing the primary domain updates the domain name linked to the directory, but all previously uploaded files remain intact. No files will be deleted or moved.

2. Modify files after changing the cPanel primary domain name

*The following guide uses the example of changing from oldprimarydomain.com to newprimarydomain.com.

Note: Please back up your website files before deleting anything from the public_html directory in cPanel. This will help prevent any loss of important data.

1. Access cPanel directly through your Z.com account. 2. Once you have reached the cPanel dashboard, locate File Manager under Files. 3. In the File Manager, navigate to the directory where your files are stored (usually under public_html for the main website files). 4. This is where you can manage the files related to your website, including content and scripts. You can: • Edit files: Right-click on the file and select Edit or Code Edit. • Upload new files: Click the Upload button at the top and select the files from your computer. • Delete or move files: Right-click and choose Delete or Move to organise your files.

Note: To upload multiple files, first compress them into a single zip file. Once zipped, upload the file to the manager.

5. The following screenshot shows that test file.png is not deleted or moved even after the new primary domain (newprimarydomain.com) is successfully changed. In that case, right-click on the file and select Delete. 6. A confirmation dialogue will appear asking if you want to delete the file. You can skip the trash and permanently delete it or move it to the trash. Once done, click Confirm. 7. Done! The file will be deleted from public_html, and if moved to trash, it can be restored from the Trash folder in File Manager if needed.

You can change your cPanel primary domain name directly from the Z.com Client Area. However, this feature is only available for paid web hosting plans. Customers using the free web hosting service cannot change their primary domain name. Updating your primary domain name can be helpful if you have rebranded, switched domains, or want to associate your hosting account with a different website. Note: Before changing your primary domain name, ensure you have created a backup for security to prevent losing your website’s data. You may click here for a guide on creating backups in cPanel. 1. Go to our Sign-in page. 2. Enter your Email Address and Password, and proceed to log in. 3. Aligned with your web hosting service, click Manage Product. 4. Click Change Primary Domain on the left side under Actions. 5. Enter the new primary domain name you want to change for the cPanel, then click Save Changes. Done! Successfully changing the primary domain name should look like the following. The primary domain name on top should be changed accordingly as well.

If you only need hosting for email services and already have a domain registered elsewhere, you can use email hosting services without transferring your domain to Z.com. All you need to do is set up your domain’s DNS records. 1. Once you have signed up for a hosting service with us, you will need to configure the DNS records for your domain to point to our hosting. This involves adding the following nameservers to your domain’s DNS settings. ns-wh1.web.z.com ns-wh2.web.z.com 2. After setting up the DNS records and completing the propagation process fully, you can create email accounts for your domain through our hosting’s cPanel. Unfortunately, with shared hosting, you have limited administrative privileges and cannot customise software configuration. However, you do have access to a cPanel to manage files, databases, email accounts, error logs, and some server analytics. While you may control certain aspects of your website through the control panel, you do not have root or admin-level access to the server. This limitation is necessary to ensure the security and stability of the server, providing a safe environment for all users to share its resources.

You can easily upgrade your current web hosting plan through your Z.com Client Area if you need more server resources to support growing traffic, better performance, or additional features. This allows you to scale your hosting as your website grows without any service interruptions. Note: Refunds are not provided for any remaining unused period following a downgrade request. If you wish to downgrade from the Starter, Personal, or Business plan, kindly contact our customer support team for assistance. Remember that downgrading reduces your allocated resources (such as storage, bandwidth, and performance), which may impact your website’s speed, functionality, and overall user experience. To upgrade your current web hosting plan: 1. Go to our Sign-in page. 2. Enter your Email Address and Password, and proceed to log in. 3. Aligned with your Web Hosting service, click Manage Product. 4. Click Upgrade/Downgrade on the left side under Actions. 5. Choose the package you want to upgrade to using the drop-down menu based on the new configurations. What is the price for upgrading my hosting plan? The price for upgrading a web hosting plan is calculated prorated and aligned with your current billing cycle. This means you only pay for the time left until your next renewal. The exact price would depend on the cost of the new hosting plan for a full billing cycle and the time left in that cycle when the upgrade occurs. 6. Once done, click Choose Product. 7. Double-check the new configuration under Description and Price before selecting your desired payment method using the Payment Method drop-down menu. Once done, Click to Continue >> to finalise your order and payment. 8. Done! A successful order will redirect you to the Order Confirmation page. You will receive a confirmation email shortly.
