How to create a Database in cPanel

A database in cPanel is a structured collection of data that your website or web application can use to store and retrieve information, such as user accounts, blog posts, or product details. Most websites that utilise content management systems (such as WordPress, Joomla, or Drupal) rely on a database to function properly.

cPanel provides tools such as the Database Wizard and Manage My Databases, which enable you to easily create, manage, and access databases through a user-friendly interface.

Note: You can create a database in cPanel using either Database Wizard (recommended for beginners) or Manage My Databases (ideal for users who prefer manual control). Both methods perform the same function — they simply offer different interfaces to create and manage the same type of database.

1. Create a database using Database Wizard – For beginners

1. Access cPanel directly through your Z.com account.

2. Once you have reached the cPanel dashboard, locate Database Wizard under Databases.

3. Enter a database name and click Next Step.

4. Enter a username and the same password twice, then click Create User. You may also make use of the Password Generator to generate a strong password.

5. A successfully created database should look like this. Process the next step: To Add user to the database. Click the ALL PRIVILEGES checkbox or select specific privileges to set. Once done, click Next Step.

6. Done! Your database and user are now set up and linked.

2. Create a database using Manage My Databases – For users who prefer manual control

1. Access cPanel directly through your Z.com account.

2. Once you have reached the cPanel dashboard, locate Manage My Databases under Databases.

3. Enter a database name and click Create Database.

4. A successfully created database should look like this. Next, click Go Back.

5. Back to the Manage My Databases page, scroll down to the Database Users section to add a new user to the database. Enter a username and the same password twice, then click Create User. You may also make use of the Password Generator to generate a strong password.

6. Locate the Add User To Database section. To add the database user to the database, select from the drop-down menu accordingly and click Add.

7. Done! A successfully created new database user should look like this.
